Amazon Prime Video Citadel releases on the streaming service tomorrow, April 28, 2023. The series stars Priyanka Chopra (Nadia Sinh), Richard Madden (Mason Kane), Stanley Tucci (Bernard Orlick), Ashleigh Cummings (Abby Conroy), Rolland Moller (Anders Silje), and Moira Kelly. Let’s take a look at what parents need to know about the age rating of the movie before letting their younger children watch Amazon Prime Video Citadel.
Language: Amazon Prime Video Citadel contains strong language,with profanity used throughout. Lookout words include f*ck, sh*t, bullsh*t, b*tch, a**h*le, d*mn, and d*mmit.
Mature Content: The biggest concern for parents in the film, other than the strong language it contains, is the violent content. Characters are shown in hand-to-hand combat, wielding weapons, shooting guns, killing other characters, and more. Many action and fight scenes include graphic scenes that show characters being shot, stabbed, strangled, and killed. There are multiple scenes that show characters being tortured, kidnapped and gassed, murdered by explosions, and shot to death in close-up shots.
Age Rating of Citadel: Amazon Prime Video’s Citadel has a TV-MA rating for peril, strong language, and violence, and the parental guidelines advisory recommends it for an adult audience, younger adults, and teens aged 17 and older. The suggestion of parental guidance or an adult guardian is highly suggested for young kids (or older kids) under 17 years of age in this TV-MA-rated feature. The minimum age recommendation is 17 years old; it is not suitable for young children.

Overall Thoughts
Amazon Prime Video’s Citadel is a fun and entertaining spy series that won’t win any awards but is enjoyable enough to give it a go. At first glance, the first three episodes provided by Amazon seemed like a quick watch, with each episode running around 40 minutes long. Not bad, right? However, because so much happens, time is fast-forwarded, and characters are whipped all around the world, the 40-minute runtime per episode feels twice as long and has a slow pacing as viewers try to catch on with what exactly is happening and figure out new characters as they are thrown into the mix.
Citadel stars Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) and Priyanka Chopra (We Can Be Heroes), as well as Stanley Tucci (Spotlight), who is the scene stealer of the series. This isn’t to say Madden and Chopra are particularly bad in the series; both give solid performances and have terrific chemistry together. Madden has the look, charm, and physical abilities to make his character believable, as he delivers one-liners with precise timing and a charisma that viewers can’t take their eyes off. Speaking of can’t take one’s eyes off the screen, this is even a truer statement when it comes to Madden’s co-star Chopra, who is exotic, elegant, talented, and enters each scene with class and grace that makes viewers instantly gravitate towards her. Chopra’s physical acting, as she flies around onscreen and kicks butt, is a welcomed surprise and makes her performance so much more authentic.
Amazon Prime Video’s Citadel only contains six episodes in total, and after viewing the first three, one must wonder exactly how this first season will be wrapped up because there seem to be so many unanswered questions looming. From the first three episodes, the story seems complex and rushed at times, especially with Nadia’s (Chopra) backstory, which lacks depth, making it hard to connect with her character. The series was produced by the Russo Brothers, who are well known for their work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and who have been branching out more with these shoot-them-up, action-packed stories. The action and fighting sequences are grandiose, almost feeling like a big-budget blockbuster, but as for the story, so far it is slow. This is one you won’t rush to view when every episode drops, but it is enjoyable enough to give it a go when you are looking for something to watch in the genre.
